Hotel Review: Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, Monaco – The Landmark Hotel Enters a Glamorous New Era

Like many esteemed hotels in Monaco, Hôtel Hermitage is owned by hospitality group Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. Guests enjoy exclusive access to many of the group’s venues, including free entry to Monte-Carlo Beach Club and Casino de Monte-Carlo. A free, thrice-hourly shuttle service connects the group’s properties in the district.
Guests at the Hermitage are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. Highlights include the just-opened 18th-century-inspired cocktail bar Gustave (don’t miss the signature Monaco cocktail), and Le Limún for light bites and lunch. The crown jewel, meanwhile, is the Michelin-starred Pavyllon Monte- Carlo. The restaurant serves French-Mediterranean cuisine with sprawling views of the yacht-lined harbour. Service was impeccable, and although the menu (like most French fine-dining menus) had few vegetarian options, the team was happy to switch the meat sauce on the chanterelle-stuffed ravioli to suit my needs.
Guests have access to the doctor and hair salon at adjacent Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo, plus a spa, indoor pool and two-storey gym. Those hoping to work during their stay should note that there is no dedicated workspace. However, laptops are permitted in the seating area in the Jardin d’Hiver.
